What great strides Tyreel Stud has made under the management of the Monds family, the renowned Hawkesbury Valley property continuing to churn out the winners, a tradition set by the late Jim Fleming.
Great racetrack and sales results are a Tyreel trademark and those looking for a future winner come Inglis Classic time must take heed of the stud’s select draft by a range of proven and younger stallions.

Lot 74 bay filly by Choisir from Condolences (by Street Cry): “an attractive, strong filly possessing quality and substance,” she is the first foal for a half-sister to the triple Group One winner Maldivian (W.S Cox Plate, 2040m, C.F Orr Stakes, 1400m, Caulfield Stakes, 2000m) and to the dam of the Group Two winner Adrift (Light Fingers Stakes, 1200m) and the Karaka Million winner Imperial Win. Her reliably classy sire, himself a graduate of this sale, is nearing a milestone having sired 96 stakes winners.
Lot 103 bay/brown filly by Pierro from Dizzy Diva (by Starspangledbanner): “a powerfully built filly with strength and quality and an attitude to match,” by Australia’s current leading sire (21 stakes winners), she is out of a placed daughter of the stakes winner Dizlago, half-sister to Pierro’s VRC Oaks-Gr.1, 2500m winner Pinot. Third and fourth dams are the big race winners Dizelle (AJC Oaks-Gr.1, 2400m) and Danelagh (Blue Diamond Stakes-Gr.1, 1200m winning dam of the Hong Kong star Vengeance Of Rain). Like Pinot and Pierro’s fellow Group One winner Pierata, she boasts
a cross of the mighty Zabeel.
Lot 134 bay filly by Written Tycoon from Family Crest (by Fastnet Rock): “a classy filly with a nice action who will attract buyers looking for quality, she is a great representation of her sire who has given her size, scope and strength.” A half-sister to two winners, she is out of a Group Three placed grandaughter of the WA Oaks-Gr.1, 2400m winner True Devotion who produced the stakes winners Centrofold and Smart Kiss as well as the dam of the Group Three winner Cassini. It is hard to fault her sire’s impressive 73.7% winners-to-runners strike rate with 31 stakes winners.
Lot 173 brown colt by Capitalist from Happy Hippy (by Shamardal): “a quality colt” from the debut crop of Written Tycoon’s Golden Slipper Stakes-Gr.1, 1200m winner, he is out of a dual Listed winner who has already produced the city winner Spiritual Pursuit. Hails from the prolific black-type family of Nikita, Celtic Dancer, Sino Brilante, Notoire, Well Known, Tempest Tost and Mildred.
Lot 246 brown colt by Pierro from Lanikai (by I Am Invincible): “a strong, athletic individual, very much in the mould of his sire, a horse who should be on everyone’s inspection list,” he is out of a dual city winning half-sister to the stakes placed Peace No War from the family of the Group One winners River Dove and Crown Prosecutor as well as the Group winners Headwater, Kulgrinda, First Command, Oneworld and McLaren.
Lot 255 chestnut colt by Nicconi from Lil Red Corvette (by Henny Hughes): “a quality precocious yearling who oozes the strength and toughness that is sure to be sought after at this sale, he has a determined walk with a great overstep.” Bred on the same Nicconi/Storm Cat cross as the Group Three sprinter Concealer, he is out of a fast stakes placed metropolitan winner from the terrific New Zealand “Heights” family.
Lot 284 chestnut filly by Star Witness from Manhattan Light (by Manhattan Rain): “a stylish filly,” she is the second foal for a city placed winning sister to the Listed winner Indian Thunder. Grandam is the speedy Listed winner Whisper Bay from the family of Group One winners Hurtle Myrtle (Myer Classic, 1600m) and Star Watch (Golden Slipper Stakes, 1200m).

Lot 413 bay filly by Foxwedge from Resource (by Tale Of The Cat): “an attractive, balanced filly with a great action who has quality about her,” she is the first living foal by a proven sire of 15 stakes winners for a sister to the triple Group winner and five times Group One placed Trusting. Grandam is the Sandown Classic-Gr.2, 2400m winner Legible whose dam is the NZ Champion Older Female Sprinter Waihora’s Lass.
