Thanks to a one-off incentive from Coolmore, that’s the dilemma facing the buyer or owner of the first progeny from the initial Australian conceived crop of undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify to win one of sixteen designated races.
Coolmore are excited to offer buyers at the upcoming sales, or those who bought one as a weanling or have retained their first crop Justify progeny to race, an opportunity to have the traditional red sportster with the dancing stallion insignia, parked in the drive. The incentive applies to the buyer or owner of the first son or daughter of Justify from his 2020 crop to win an eligible race. For their juvenile season in 2023 the designated races are the five Australian 2YO Gr.1s, so the Blue Diamond, Golden Slipper, ATC Sires Produce, Champagne and J J Atkins Stakes and the three main sale-linked races, the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Karaka Millions and the Inglis Millennium. The eight eligible races for their three-year-old season in 2023/24 are the Caulfield Guineas, Golden Rose and Coolmore Stud Stakes, The Everest, the W S Cox Plate, the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The incentive breaks away from what has become the industry norm as Coolmore Australia Principal, Tom Magnier explained. “In the past, other farms have offered cash bonuses as incentives for various first crop sires, however, with a stallion as special as Justify we thought it was appropriate to reward the owners of the first Group 1 winning Justify with a Ferrari. Ferrari and Justify have so much in common. They are both fast, red, powerful and incredibly stunning and given the quality of his stock that we have seen, we’re convinced that we will be giving one away.”
“Justify is the only US Triple Crown winner to ever retire undefeated and is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary horses to shuttle to Australia,” Magnier added. “Ever since it was announced that he was shuttling he has been met with an incredible response by Australasian breeders, and covered an unbelievable book of mares in his first season. We could not be happier with the quality of the Justify stock that we have at Coolmore and reports from all of our clients with Justify yearlings to sell and race have been overwhelmingly complimentary. We couldn’t be more confident about Justify leaving his mark on the Australian breeding landscape in the future, and we are so excited by what is to come.”
Referring to the incentive Tom said, “We expected the Justify yearlings to be popular given the quality book of mares he covered and the outstanding foals on the ground, but since the announcement of the Ferrari incentive, interest in his yearlings amongst the high-profile buyers and agents completing pre-sale inspections has gone to another level. We hope that our clients that have supported Justify by backing him with their outstanding mares can go to the sales and reap the benefits of the incentive.”
The next opportunity to begin the journey towards collecting the incentive comes amongst the stellar Justify offerings on the Gold Coast. Dotted amongst a collection of experienced and successful vendors are 26 yearlings with the potential to deliver the keys to your hand, starting with the very first lot of the auction, a colt out of the dual Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 placed I Am Invincible mare Eckstein. Other sons of Justify heading to the Gold Coast include a handsome colt out of Lake Geneva, Fastnet Rock’s daughter who was placed third in both the Gr.1 Blue Diamond and the Golden Slipper Stakes’, a half-brother to the dual Gr.1 winning mare Loving Gaby out of Maastricht and colts out of the New Zealand Gr.1 winners Savvy Coup and The Party Stand.
For those who think a filly is the best way to convert one horsepower into the 830HP found under the bonnet of a Ferrari, the Gold Coast offers the chance to buy a daughter of the Gr.1 Thousand Guineas and Flight Stakes winner Global Glamour, or a half-sister to the multiple Group race winner, and so nearly a Gr.1 winner, in Fiesta. There will also be a lass out of the tough Gr.3 winning sprinter Koonoomoo, dam of this season’s much thought of filly Wild Calm, and that is just to name a few.
The Inglis Classic Sale offers six opportunities to snare a Justify headed by colts out of Fine Scent, a Listed placed half-sister to the Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, and Extra Olives a Gr.3 placed granddaughter of Alinghi. And for those seeking a Champion out of the Karaka ring there are still more opportunities including a grey colt out of Danex, making him a half-brother to the Gr.2 Matriarch Stakes winner Oceanex, and a colt out of Mongolian Beauty that sold for $300,000 at June’s Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
And those patient enough to wait until the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be rewarded by having the crème de la crème to choose from. Amongst the offerings are colts out of Champion filly Atlantic Jewel, already the dam of a Stakes winner in Europe, the first foal out of Thorn Park’s eleven time winner Celebrity Dream, another out of the dual Gr.1 winner Srikandi carrying the blood of Dubawi, yet another out of the four time Group winner and Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes third Formality, and the first foal out of the Gr.2 placed Paulownia, a Fastnet Rock full sister to Foxwedge. Buyers can also take their pick of several fillies including a half-sister to the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas winner Mighty Boss out of Bullion Mansion and a daughter of the superbly related Gr.3 winning juvenile Ennis Hill who was placed third in the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
The full terms and conditions for the incentive can be found on the Coolmore website www.coolmore.com , but in the meantime you can start planning on the very good chance the garage will need expanding to accommodate the sportster.
