One of those is consistent performer and Inglis Classic Yearling Sale graduate Run to Perfection (Sepoy) who recently ran second in the Listed Waikato Sprint Handicap, and is a city winner of three races who began his career as a brilliant three year-old, running second in a G2 race at his third start, then fourth in the G1 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas behind Catalyst. Another Inglis graduate from Jazcom’s yearling drafts is 2021 Listed Black Pearl Stakes winner Rainbiel (Toronado) who cost only $10,000 and has earned over $280,000, while city winner The Garden (Shooting to Win) has earned four times more prizemoney than he cost.
With a draft of seven yearlings, two colts and five fillies, at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, buyers can purchase with confidence knowing that Jazcom Thoroughbreds put plenty of individual attention into each yearling. Jazcom’s Colin Branthwaite spoke to Bluebloods about each of the yearlings in his draft.
Artorius, winner of the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes, gave Flying Artie the very best start to his stud career, and where there are flames, there is fire. Jazcom’s Flying Artie yearling filly, Lot 557, is the first foal of Finest Choice, a Redoute’s Choice half-sister to dual Listed winner of seven races Dublin Lass (O’Reilly) and five race city winner and group placed Crafty Cop (Starcraft). And just in case you need another excuse to inspect this filly, she’s bred on the same Flying Artie/Redoute’s Choice cross as Artorius himself. “A lovely balanced filly, not too big and typical of the breed.”
A filly with loads of residual value is Lot 710; being by G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver whose six stakes winners include G1 placed group winner Vangelic, and recent dual Listed winner Night Raid. This yearling filly is a daughter of G3 South Australia Fillies Classic winner Red Typhoon, who is a half-sister to G2 winner Ten Gun Salute. This family has left multiple stakes winners in every generation on the page; and is a family on the move with Red Typhoon’s first three foals all being winners and having raced during 2021. Her 3YO by Capitalist was placed recently at only her third start, so watch this space. “A lovely elegant filly, a great mover and
a lovely kind head.”
What a season Nicconi is having. Widden Stud’s G1 winning sprinter has had two G1 winners this season in Champion Sprinter Nature Strip and G1 Winterbottom Stakes winner Graceful Girl and with big crops on the ground, it looks like more to come for the quality stallion. Jazcom Thoroughbreds will present a filly, Lot 756, who is the first foal of tough racemare Bo Rossa (Testa Rossa). She won ten races from 950m to 1700m, and wouldn’t you love to own one like that! Two of Bo Rossa’s siblings also won ten races each, including stakes placed My Lucky Baby. “A typical Nicconi filly, lovely balance and neat running filly with quality.”
Pierro made headlines recently as the stallion chosen for Champion mare Winx. His record speaks for itself and he’s a worthy horse for a mare of her status. Buyers can get their own taste of Pierro with Jazcom’s yearling filly, Lot 626, who is the second foal of winning mare Identic (I Am Invincible) who is from the La Baraka family that includes stakes winners Agister and Readyor. G1 winner La Baraka is the dam of group winner Alizes, the granddam of G1 winning pair Alizee and Astern. “She is all class. Big, strong and all quality, right up there on type.”
A Headwater filly, Lot 27, is the third foal of Lizards Lover (Snippetson), who won three races and is a half-sister to Listed winner Royal Commands (Commands), herself the dam of stakes placed winner Just Dreaming. “She is an elegant, long, scopey filly with a good presence.”
One of only two colts in the Jazcom Thoroughbreds Inglis Classic Yearling Sale draft, Lot 463, is by Pariah (Redoute’s Choice) from a young imported mare, Ciavenna (Canford Cliffs), whose half-sister Clenor won two Listed races as a two year-old in America, while two more of Ciavenna’s siblings were stakes placed winners in Ireland. This is the family of G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Line of Duty and G1 American Oaks winner Cambina. “He is a well grown colt with good length of rein and scope.”
Lot 440 is a colt by Rubick, who was the Leading Sire of 3YOs in Australia with his first crop, that included The Everest winner Yes Yes Yes who also won the G2 Todman Stakes as a two year-old. Jazcom’s Rubick yearling colt is a son of five race city winner Buon Auspicio (Bernardini), a half-sister to Listed winner La Chasseuse who won seven races; and their dam Gerber is a winning half-sister to four stakes winners; Cheverny, Fashion News, Academe, and Vionneto. “A big, strong, racy colt with a great action and head.”
Jazcom Thoroughbreds continue to produce exciting winning racehorses from their Inglis Classic Yearling Sale drafts, and their 2022 offering looks like to continue their forward pathway.
