Want a horse who’s extremely sound, loves stable life, takes over his trainer’s social media videos, never shows a thing in trackwork but fights like a tiger on raceday and earns more than 10 times his purchase price?

That’s the horse Melbourne trainer John Moloney bought for $30,000 from Arrowfield’s Class of 2015. Almost six years later Sunday Pray has won or placed in 20 of his 53 starts, earned $353,000 and is happily back in the stable getting ready for his next campaign.

Arrowfield has plenty of similar stories, and several of them come out of the Inglis Classic Sale – for example, city winners Don’t Doubt Lara (bought for $15,000) and Valario (a $50,000 buy). They have won 12 races and more than $300,000 between them in Queensland.

An outlay of $180,000 secured three horses, Champion Supreme, Country Star & Quadruple Double, from Arrowfield’s 2017 Classic draft. They’ve earned 15 times that amount in Hong Kong.

Buyers with slightly bigger budgets have also reaped rewards after buying from Arrowfield at Inglis Classic. This season’s Victoria Derby G1 runner-up Hit The Shot was a $170,000 buy who won $400,000 in Australia and was subsequently sold to Hong Kong for a seven-figure sum.

Then there’s Castelvecchio, bought by Ottavio Galletta from Arrowfield for $150,000 at Inglis Classic 2018. Little more than two years later he retired as a two-time Group 1 winner with prizemoney of $2.9 million and a stud value many times more than his yearling price.

LOT 2 – MAURICE – GARALIYA COLT
“We love how the Maurice two-year-olds have hit the ground running.  We thought they might come a little later, so it’s fair to think they will be better as they get older and this super-athletic colt has a great Aga Khan pedigree. LOT 51 – PARIAH – INDARRA COLT
“Here’s a strong, active colt by Pariah. We love how the Pariahs all have that lovely Redoute’s Choice depth of girth. His dam is a quality stakes-winning racemare by Stravinsky so he’s bred on the same cross as Lankan Rupee and Russian Revolution. Look for this fellow in the two-year-old races before Christmas.”
LOT 115 – SHALAA – LOVE IS FICKLE FILLY
“Shalaa has really stamped his stock with his quality and class. Here is a typically smart well-balanced filly with nice size and scope and a generous Shalaa head and eye. Love Is Fickle is by the champion broodmare sire Redoute’s Choice from a Group 1 winner and her half-sister has already left Lean Mean Machine. Imagine this filly’s value if she runs as well as she looks!”
LOT 146 – DUNDEEL – MILANESA COLT
“Dundeel is flying and this attractive colt is typical of his best offspring. His full brother Pandano is very talented and was well-fancied in the Inglis Millennium won by another Dundeel colt, Castelvecchio. This colt is in the Castelvecchio mould. Milanesa was likewise a talented racemare by Snitzel so we expect this well-made and great-moving colt to run at two.”
LOT 303 – MIKKI ISLE – SERENADE LILY COLT

LOT 413 – REAL IMPACT – VOCALISE COLT
“Real Impact has proven the pinhookers’ pin-up sire and this colt should attract their attention again. He’s an athletic colt who moves with style and purpose. Real Impact has a Group 1 winner in his first crop and remember, he only got better with age himself. Vocalise was early and was unlucky when beaten less than a length in the Magic Night Stakes. We really like this colt and expect him to be value.”
LOT 414 – PARIAH – VORTEX FILLY
“Pariah was the first season sire on everyone’s lips after his first crop hit the ground and this is a typically high quality filly by him.
