One quarter of the Kingstar Farm 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale draft made the field for the Listed Inglis Nursery, a continuation of the quality juveniles produced by Kingstar Farm. Lord of the Hunter is the first runner to represent Kingstar Farm’s own sire Lord of the Sky (Danerich), while Paved with Gold is by Capitalist. With Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside leading the charge of their recent success, Kingstar Farm’s aim is to produce good racehorses who get up and run early.
“We are starting to see the farm’s Star inside Crown brand on the track more often now we’ve a crop or two racing. Champion 2YO Stay Inside was the highlight from one of our first crops and we’re hoping we’ve got the recipe right to continue that success,” said Kingstar Farm’s Conor Phelan, as we went to press.“Exciting two year-old colt California Deeply (Deep Field) won on debut early
in December and from a small draft of just eight at Classic last year, we’ll see two in the $450,000 Inglis Nursery on Saturday. We might not have large drafts but the Kingstar stock are proving more than competitive thus far.”
With eleven yearlings in Kingstar’s 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale draft, the initial focus will be on the three by Golden Slipper winner Capitalist who has had a wonderful start to his stud career with Gr1 winner Captivant in his first crop.
Leading out the trio of Capitalist yearlings is Lot 515, from Gr2 winner Doremifasollatido and if you ever get the chance to listen to the race calls for racemare Doremifasollatido, do it. It’s great listening. Doremifasollatido’s first three foals to race are all winners in the USA, , and we all know how well colonial stallions blend with American broodmares. The other Capitalist colt, Lot 246, in this draft is a half-brother to Gr2 Wakeful Stakes winner Tiamo Grace, out of Anabaa mare Sicile who is a half-sister to group winner Common World and Listed winner Speciale. This is the family of Gr1 winner I Am A Star, as well as many European group winners. Rounding out the trio of Capitalist yearlings is a filly, Lot 354, who is the first foal of winning Snitzel mare Zinzi, who is a daughter of Gr1 winner Clean Sweep from the family of South African Champion 2YO Soft Falling Rain.
Deep Field is having a stellar season with the likes of Portland Sky. His colt, Lot 363, is the first foal of Age of War, a winning full sister to Gr2 winning two year-old Time For War, as well as being a half-sister to Listed winner Lord Olympus, from the family of Mosheen, Lucky Owners, and Might and Power.
A half-brother to multiple group placed winner Dyslexic (Foxwedge) is Lot 525, a colt by Russian Revolution. This colt’s dam, Easy to Read, has left three winners, Dyslexic, city winner Steyne who won five from eight, and Readathon who won recently. Easy to Read (Encosta de Lago) is an unraced half-sister to Gr2 winner and Gr1 placed Trusting, out of Gr2 winner Legible. Recent stakes winner Starlight (Headwater) is also from this family.
Three fillies with plenty of residual value are well worth an inspection. Lot 163 is a Super One half-sister to dual stakes winning two year-old Thurlow (Sebring) and Listed winner Three Kings, and all of them are out of Listed winner Princess Emmy. Super One has made a solid start to his stud career, and this well-related filly has plenty of two year-old form on her catalogue page. Lot 764, by quality stallion Dundeel, is a daughter of Gr3 winner Cavalry Rose (Charge Forward) from the family of Gr1 winner and young sire Brutal (O’Reilly). Tough racemare Hidden Kisses won eight races including the Gr3 Toy Show Handicap, and she has started her broodmare career well with two recent winners; improving Hong Kong based galloper Double Take, and recent winner Kiss and Tell. Hidden Kisses has a Flying Artie filly, Lot 612, in this draft and if she’s anything like Flying Artie’s Artorius, a buyer could write any ticket for her as a broodmare prospect later on.
A quick juvenile himself, Gr2 Skyline Stakes winner Santos (I Am Invincible) is represented in 2022 by his first crop of yearlings including Kingstar Farm’s Lot 251, who is the second foal of Listed Inglis Banner 2YO Stakes winner Silversands (Dubleo) from the wonderful “Heights” family. On paper, this filly should fly early, and Kingstar Farm’s reputation for producing two year-olds is an added upside for buyers.
Winning Rupert has started his stud career well with impressive Western Australian stakes winner It’sarayday, and his yearling colt, Lot 795, is the second foal of a winning Hinchinbrook half-sister to Listed winner Everage, and carries the important Rory’s Jester/Snippets cross.
Kingstar’s own Lord of the Sky has already made people sit up and take notice with his first crop, and his second crop filly, Lot 783, is a daughter of stakes placed winner Faraway Eyes from a strong New Zealand family that includes Howmuchyacharging.
With Kingstar Farm quickly building a reputation as a farm that produces high quality early runners, this is one draft that should be on everyone’s inspection list.
